Leslie Richmond
Lieutenant, 1st Gordon Highlanders
Leslie Richmond was born in Armadale, Australia in 1888, but moved with his family back to his father's birthplace, Scotland. They rented Monzie Castle, just outside Crieff, and Leslie attended Ardvreck School in the town. Leslie joined the Gordon Highlanders in the early years of the 20th Century after attending Sandhurst Military Academy.
He was the son of James Richmond of Kippenross House, Dunblane, and was married to Ruth Margaret Greenwood. His son, also Leslie Richmond, fell in WW2 at Dunkirk.
Leslie Richmond Sr died at Mons at the age of 26 on the 23rd August 1914. There is a memorial plaque to him in Monzie Church.
